Day 100 - The Final Day

Back on the bike for the final few miles to Miami where I will drop it off for shipping back to the UK.
However, before Karen and I fly home we will spend a few days of holiday time relaxing in Florida.

Not wanting to disappoint you after two days without, here are a couple of photos with my bike and the road.

At the shipping agent in Miami on day 100 of my trip after covering almost 16,000 miles from Alaska to Florida, the long way!

Now I must start writing up the real story of what happened so keep an eye on www.roadride.net for when the book will be released.

Thanks for following my journey.

We left the hotel in Miami and headed off down to Key West via the more scenic route of the Card Sound Road and called in to Alabama Jacks Bar & Restaurant on the way before reaching the end point of my trip in Key West.

Eating blackened Dolphin at Alabama Jacks.

This is as far south as I am going on this trip...

At the Mile 0 sign in Key West of Hwy 1.

At the southernmost point in the USA.

Celebrating with a glass of champagne given to us by the hotel and a free upgrade to the Presidential Suite!

Day 95

Taking the Tamiami Trail (Hwy 41) from Naples to Miami today. A much more scenic road than one of the Interstates and I even got to see a couple of alligators when taking a detour of the 41.

Can you spot the monster?

Views from the Tamiami Trail...

But the best part of the day was meeting Karen at the hotel in Miami !

Day 91

Today I was just riding around New Orleans mostly away from the city centre before going East again.

View of the Mississippi River south of the city.

One of the house just the other side of the Mississippi River bank.

Day 90

Well, if I hadn't got my US Visa, this would have been my last day in the US, but as I did get it, I will carry on for a little longer!

First stop of the day was to look at an historical plantation house before going to New Orleans.

Typical slave quarters.
However, I never realised that the slaves had an informal class system!

Day 89

Riding South still, with rain on and off during the day.

In the UK we joke about having Kangaroo petrol in your car if someone is not very good with their clutch control. Damm me, they actually sell the stuff here!

Back on The Great River Road today

Back on the Natchez Trace Parkway, freshly paved too.
